RACE DAY

When and where is Made to Move taking place?

Our big summer race is Saturday, June 11, 2022 in Madison, Wisconsin. Our 10K, 5K, 1-mile and half-marathon races will all take place on the UW Arboretum course. We are also offering virtual race options for all our distances.

Where can I park?

The race will start and finish in the same spot, near the Henry Vilas Park shelter. The address of the park is 1602 Vilas Park Dr. You can utilize nearby parking lots and there is ample street parking as well. 

Where should my family and friends stand to cheer me on?

This route offers some great spots for spectating all our race distances. We will offer some ideas as race day gets closer if your cheer squad is looking for easy in/easy out spots. Also, our finish line area near the Vilas Park shelter is always a spot for cheering!

Will there be nutrition or hydration at the race?

We are working on these details and will communicate our offerings closer to race day. Runners can plan for hydration on the course, for sure, and at the finish line. We encourage athletes, if they have very specific nutrition or hydration needs, to bring their own to ensure they have everything they need. 

Are there any time cut-offs I should be aware of?

You will have four hours to complete the half marathon course. Since our 10K route is the same, this time cut-off applies there as well. Our 5K cut-off time is one hour. These cut-off times are in partnership with the city and permits we have with the surrounding neighborhoods and park area. Our race day will conclude at 1 pm.

RACE WEEKEND

If I want to participate in all the events offered, when should I arrive and depart Madison?

We encourage out-of-town athletes wishing to participate in all events to arrive late Thursday or early Friday and depart on Sunday. We’d love our participants to explore and enjoy Madison (with fun guides coming soon for you to use!). We will have events Friday afternoon and evening (Made to Inspire and Made to Market) and an event Saturday evening (Made to Celebrate) after the race as well.

Is there a hotel block for the race?

We are actively working on this — please check back soon! You are also welcome to explore hotel options now that are downtown and close to the race.

When will you have the full itinerary for the weekend available?

We hope to have our full weekend itinerary available in late March. Check back soon!

PARTNERSHIPS + VENDORS

If I want to participate in the Made to Market shopping/vendor experience on Friday, how do I go about that?

We are actively looking for small businesses who would love to feature their products and services at our market! If you are interested in participating, you can contact our team member Katie at katie@fellowflowres.com. We will need to know a bit about your business (what products, services or experiences you offer), the core audience you serve and why you’d love to join the MTM market!

Our goal with Made to Market is to carefully craft a shopping and learning experience with unique and meaningful vendors and businesses. If we feel like your products and services are a good fit, we’d love to have you join us! We are especially encouraging and will give preference to women-led and BIPOC-led small businesses.

We are specifically looking for vendors in these categories:

• Apparel, lifestyle or fitness
• Stationary, paper goods, gifts
• Nutrition, food, beverage
• Wellness and whole body health
• Meaningful gifts
• Race day needs (nutrition, hydration, equipment, gadgets, etc.)
• Services for women (health, business, personal, training, etc.)
• Organizations supporting and empowering women and girls

Is there a cost to be a vendor at Made to Market?

There may be a cost associated with your participation at Made to Market. There may also be ways to provide unique offerings to our participants where vendor costs may be discounted or waived. We will discuss with you more via email!

PACKET PICKUP

Where and when is packet pick-up?

Women racing with us in Madison may pick up their packets at the Made to Market event on Friday, June 10 at the Garver Feed Mill, located at 3241 Garver Green in Madison. Additionally, women who purchased the race-day pick-up option during registration may pick their packets up at Henry Vilas Park on race morning, Saturday, June 11.

Friday’s Made to Market and packet pick-up: 1-6 pm
Saturday’s race day packet pick-up: 7:30-8 am

Can I switch my packet pick-up to race day?

Currently, you can switch anything related to your registration up until May 1st. You can switch distances, shirt sizes, pick-up options, swag, etc. via your RunSignUp confirmation email. Our team cannot make these changes for you. If we are able to extend certain deadlines, you will be notified the month prior to the race!

TRANSFERS + CHANGES

I need to switch my race distance — how do I do that?

No problem! You will do this via your Runsignup.com confirmation email. There is an option to revisit your account and registration. Upon registering, you will be asked to pay the price difference. Please note, transfers in race distances must be submitted by May 15th. 

I want to register for an in-person race AND the Virtual Superstar Package. Is that possible?

It sure is! Please start by registering for your in-person race distance so you get set up with the right bib and medal and goodies. Then, please email Jen at jen@fellowflowers letting her know your plans and which in-person distance you’ve already registered for. She will send you a code to enter when you register separately for the Virtual Superstar Package, and it will discount the distance that youll be running in-person.

And, of course, if you want to run an in-person distance plus all three of the Virtual Superstar Package distances, please purchase those two race options individually through RunSignup. 

Can I switch my race shirt for a larger or smaller size?

No problem! You will do this via your Runsignup.com confirmation email. There is an option to revisit your account and registration. Please note, changes to your shirt size must be distances must be submitted by April 15th.

How do I upgrade to the race hoodie?

The hoodie is an item you are able to purchase in your registration. If you didn’t purchase during registration, you can go back in, add it and pay the difference in RunSignUp. You cannot swap out your race tee provided with registration for the hoodie. Hoodie orders are available until May 1st or when sold out.

Will you have apparel for sale on race day?

Yes, we will have apparel and products available on race day! Plan for a fun afternoon of shopping at Friday’s Made to Market! 

COVID PRECAUTIONS

Are there any COVID-19 guidelines or precautions in place?

Yes, in working with the city of Madison and Dane County Public Health, we will have a COVID-19 mitigation plan in place. Our guidelines and precautions will mirror any current health order in place for the county. These details are continuously changing in Dane County, and we will communicate the current order (if any at that time) to participants well in advance of race day.

If I’m uncomfortable with running in-person in June, can I switch my registration to virtual? How would I do that? 

Yes! You will do this via your Runsignup.com confirmation email. There is an option to revisit your account and registration. Upon registering, price differences will be adjusted. Please note, transfers to our virtual race option must be submitted by May 1.

REFUNDS + CANCELATIONS

What are your plans and cancelation policies, particularly with regard to COVID?

Registration for Made to Move 2022 are non-refundable. If we are unable to host the weekend’s events due to any reason (COVID or otherwise) they will be moved to virtual. While we fully anticipate an in-person race in Madison, if needed, we will mail out packages well ahead of race date and athletes will run virtually.

If something happens after I register and I’m no longer able to participate, can I request a refund?

Unfortunately, there are no refunds for any reason. We want to be fully transparent about the reason why — your registration is not just a medal, bib and shirt; it’s countless hours of our team’s labor and love in bringing you an exceptional race day experience.

If something happens after I register and I’m no longer able to participate, can I defer my registration to 2023?

Unfortunately, we can’t allow deferrals from 2022 to the 2023 race.

What is Made To Move’s commitment to DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) efforts?

It is our mission that women who traditionally have had to advocate for their voices to be heard, their hardships to be understood and their community to feel included know they belong at Made To Move. 

This means creating a race experience that welcomes and accepts all women goes far beyond simply extending an invitation. It means working ahead of time and behind the scenes — along with like-minded leaders and organizations — to create an event at which all women feel safe, seen, supported and celebrated. This extends to how women are invited, how they see their stories honored and told, and how they and their needs feel taken care of throughout the race experience. Until we explicitly, thoughtfully and collaboratively tackle these barriers that prevent women from racing, all women will not show up at the starting line. It is our job to create the experience that all women deserve.
